10. Underpaid sweatshop workers sewed the original Star Trek Uniforms
Gene Rodenberry may have been set on a utopian society, but the actual Starfleet uniforms weren’t from a Replicator. Producers Herb Solow and Robert Justman revealed that due to the budget being so small, costumes couldn’t be afforded by unionized costume makers.
As an alternative, they had them sewn overnight in a “sweatshop” and then they snuck them in the studios back window once they arrived completed.
